Student/Parent Info

Reading

BC Cate Elementary School has recently adopted a new reading series: Scott Foresman's Reading Street. Each grade level has a designated reading block time where teachers work with students in guided reading groups. Each grade level also has a designated response to intervention (RtI) in the afternoon. During this time, students are broken into groups for re-teaching, extra practice or for the opportunity for enrichment. Reading and your child's literacy is our top priority. Please take time each day to enjoy some time reading with your child.

Math

BC Cate Elementary School also has adopted a new Math series. Math in Focus is used at each grade level. We designate a math block daily with additional time to work on individual skills in the afternoon similar to our reading blocks. It is critical that you work on math skills daily as well as reading skills.

Character Education

At BC Cate, there is a Character Education program which emphasizes a specific trait each month. Each month, we hold a Town Meeting by grade level where individual students are recognized for their good character.

Cafeteria

We serve free lunch and breakfast Monday through Friday in our cafeteria. Breakfast is served 8:10-8:30 a.m.
