Smart Schools Bond Act Funding
Preliminary Plan for Use of Remaining Smart Schools Allocation
The Smart Schools Bond Act allows schools districts to receive funding for specific capital improvement work within school buildings. One such area is improvements to building security including replacement of exterior doors and frames.
The school district has some older exterior doors and frames that are not operating as desired and the district’s gymnasiums were not included in the original campus emergency notification system installation and require appropriate notification equipment to connect to the system. The Smart Schools funds will be used to remove the existing doors and frames and install new FRP doors in aluminum frames with the appropriate exit door hardware and door contacts and to purchase the appropriate notification system equipment for each of the three gymnasiums. This will help in keeping the buildings secure.
The Board of Education approved the resolution for the Smart Schools Bond Act Funding on December 14, 2023.
